COLLECTOR’S NOTES

The “Daini” Heritage
This watch features the stylized lightning bolt symbol on the dial, which is the historical maker’s mark of the Daini Seikosha factory in Tokyo. During the 1960s, Daini engaged in a legendary internal rivalry with the Suwa Seikosha factory to push the limits of mechanical engineering.

The High-Jewel Ladies’ Era
Mid-century ladies’ watches are often undervalued today, but they represent a pinnacle of micro-engineering. Fitting a 21-jewel calendar movement into a tiny 17.5mm wide case required extraordinary precision.

The “Tank” Form Factor
While many mid-century ladies’ watches were round or cocktail-styled, the rectangular “Tank” geometry makes this specific reference heavily sought after by enthusiasts looking for a classic, geometric, unisex-adjacent art deco aesthetic

Palladium Build Material
The case back on this specific reference series often integrates high-grade Palladium plating—a rare material choice in mid-century horology that offers excellent tarnish resistance compared to typical base metals.
