SPECIFICATION

Reference Number: SKX781

Movement Caliber: Seiko 7S26 automatic. It features 21 jewels, beats at 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and has roughly a 41-hour power reserve. It is a rugged workhorse but does not support manual hand-winding or hacking (the seconds hand doesn’t stop when pulling out the crown).

Dimensions: 42.5mm case diameter, 13mm thickness, 47.5mm lug-to-lug, and 20mm lug width.

Case Material: 316L Stainless steel with an aggressive, integrated protective shroud around the top and bottom of the case.

Crystal: Domed Hardlex mineral crystal.

Water Resistance: 200 meters (20 bar), ISO 6425 compliant scuba diver’s watch.

Dial Features: Broad Lumibrite block hour indices and high-contrast, black-outlined hands. It features a quick-set Day/Date window at the 3 o’clock position (your dial shows the Spanish abbreviation “DOM” for Domingo/Sunday).

CONDITION
Very good to like new condition. Hardly can’t say if there are noticable scratches on this piece. Movement works well and keep accurate time with good power reserve.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

1. The Original Cult Classic
Released alongside its black sibling (SKX779), the SKX781 is a fundamental landmark in modern dive watch history. It earned its “Monster” nickname from the watch community due to its fiercely aggressive, tool-like design, toothy bezel, and intimidating profile. The Gen 1 is highly sought after by collectors because it represents the raw, original layout that started the entire legacy.

2. Identifying Markers vs. Later Generations
We can easily tell this is a pure Gen 1 by looking at the dial
– It features rectangular Lumibrite blocks. The 2nd Generation (SRP309) swapped these out for triangular “shark teeth” markers.
– The dial includes individual Arabic numbers (35, 40, 50, 55) alongside the lower and upper hour markers. These details were completely removed in subsequent generations.

3. Legendary Lume
The Gen 1 Monster is widely celebrated on watch forums for its jaw-dropping Lumibrite application. Because of the sheer depth and surface area of the hour indices, a brief charge under bright light yields a vivid green glow that outlasts almost every other vintage tool watch in its class
